Christmas is coming around and everyone is excited to spend time with their families and loved ones to soak up the holiday cheer. JCSU Concert Choir was hosting their annual Christmas Vesper for the student body and the community to enjoy. While some express their talents in other fields, one individual, Elijah Simpson expresses his talent through music. Let me introduce you to him! He is currently a sophomore at JCSU and majoring in communication arts. He is from the small town of Reidsville, North Carolina and has always had a passion for music! This singer/songwriter has been writing for two years and he goes by his stage name, Eli Ahmad, which you might have hear of! His music style varies, but he enjoys R&B the most. He has been classically trained in Vocal Performance and continues to train his voice more and more each and everyday. While on campus, he is highly involved with the student body. He is a two year member of the JCSU Concert Choir, a member of JCSU branch of NAACP, a member of the Smith Experience for the JCSU Office of Admissions, a student ambassador of the Smith Institute of Research, and has held a various amount of open mic nights around campus! During the Christmas Vesper, the men of the JCSU Chorus put on a wonderful show as they sung a Christmas classic, "White Christmas". Not only did Elijah Simpson share his role, but Nate Cummingham and Taequan Owens provided the audience with their solos as well. Elijah asked me to record this special moment for him and I was happy and honored to capture his gift. He did an amazing job with his performance solo and I knew it would be a great kick to add to the show. I spent weeks listening to this group and the rest of the concert choir rehearse for this upcoming show and I was pleased to hear the wonderful voices of these individuals sing their hearts out!
